Extracurricular Achievements of 2012-2013
Aimee Ouelett (junior) sang the National Anthem at the End of Summer Celebration at CHS.
Haley Smith (senior), Catherine Stephens (senior), and Lauren Speath (freshman) were chosen to form this years Student Leardership Team.
Haley Smith (senior) and Lauren Spaeth (freshman) both participated in the 2012 Spivey Hall Honor Chorus as well as the 2012 Georgia District V Honor Chorus. This opportunity was presented to all students enrolled.
Catherine Stephens (senior), Haley Smith (senior), Aimee Ouelett (junior) and Lauren Spaeth (freshman) all auditions for the 2013 Georgia All State chorus. Catherine Stephens and Haley Smith received high enough scores to be passed to the second round and successfully passed the second round in January to participate in the Choir at the end of February.
Haley Smith (senior) auditions to participate in the 2013 Georgia All State Reading chorus. Her high score awarded her a spot in the 100 student choir. Centennial was one of three Fulton County Schools to send students to this event (Alpharetta and Tri Cities High School also sent students).
Rosemary Attakora (freshman), Hilary Boyd (junior), Delaney Karnes (junior), Robin Lehmann (freshman), Aimee Ouelett (junior), Haley Smith (senior), and Catherine Stephens (senior) represented the Centennial Chorale at the 2012 Happy Holidays from Broadway concert at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.
Rosemary Attakora (freshman), Helen Cannella (senior), Onyx Flamer (freshman), Aimee Ouelett (junior), Cynthia Richemond (freshman), Hilary Boyd (junior), Haley Smith (senior), Zachary More (junior), Tyler McIntosh (senior), Lauren Spaeth (freshman), and Adrian Sanders (senior) have all been awarded solos, small ensemble parts, or instrumental parts in concerts this year.
The Centennial Chorale will be participating in the 2013 Large Group Performance Evaluation on February 26th. We received a PTSA mini-grant to help supplement the cost of this event so students would not have to pay. Chorale will be performing at the Class C level for both song choice as well as sight-reading.
This year student have sung pieces that were written from 1710 to 2011, varying from Classical to 20th Century to Opera, from various religious backgrounds as well as numerous sacred pieces, in various languages including English, Latin, Spanish, Hebrew and South African (Afrikans I believe- unable to find a definite answer on the exact language).
Haynes Bridge and Holcomb Bridge were both invited to sing on our winter concert in December. Due to scheduling issues Holcomb Bridge was unable, but Haynes Bridges joined Centennial for the concert.
Chorus and Orchestra joined forces to go to the "Windy City" Chicago this February. Students will hear the Chicago Symphony, tour the Art Institue, and see various monuments of the city.
Knightingales perform for the CHS faculty, staff, and Fulton County Superintendent.
Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Theatre, and Art hosted the first annual Celebration of the Arts on May 9th.
Chorus members Catherine Stephens and Haley Smith were selected to receive the 2013 FFA Senior Scholarships along with 3 other Fine Arts students.
